A.C.T.S.- Grow

The past three weeks have been spent discussing safety and kids. But can we really keep our kids safe? Do we really want them to be safe all the time? Taking risks can be good for kids to build confidence and experience new activities. My ministry partner, Lori Wildenberg, has sage advice for all parents who worry about their children’s safety, “You can’t keep them safe, so you’ve got to get them ready.” All the time we as parents spend instructing, guiding, leading, and modeling for our children gets them ready for the real world and new adventures. The only way to truly keep them safe is to instill a faith that will last through the rough and tough times.

There are lots of ways to instill faith in kids. The key is growth which comes from continued filling. The final month of the Adventures in Odyssey service challenge A.C.T.S., A Call to Serve, focuses on GROWING, to grow in our walk with God every day.

Here are my suggestions, just for you and yours.

Read the Bible together each day. Make it part of your daily routine!

Pray with and for your children.

Use scripture to bless your kids.

Teach children about Jesus. This is the only way to really get them ready.

Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth.
Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.
Psalm 127:3-5a
