Calm Anxious Kids with God’s Word

Calm anxious kids with scripture. God’s Word tells us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7). The way to relieve anxiety is through prayer. Parents care deeply and want to help their children. God is infinitely more compassionate and able to overcome anything causing stress in the lives of His children. Break Philippians 4:6 down for your children in prayer.

Philippians 4:6-7

  1. Do not be anxious about anything
    We are not to worry.
  2. …but in every situation, by prayer and petition…
Pray and request God’s intervention and guidance in every situation.
  3. …with thanksgiving…
Thank God for what He’s going to do and His faithfulness in past situations.
  4. ...present your requests to God.
Talk it out with the Lord.
  5. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Thank the Lord for providing a way to true peace, beyond our understanding, for both our hearts and minds.

Revisit the prayer to offer the peace of God to calm you and your child. Nothing is too big for Jesus!

Use these additional verses to calm anxious hearts and minds.

No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Joshua 1:5

The Armor of God
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:14-17
