Parenting Classes
Grandparenting Presentations
and Teacher In-Services

As a licensed Parent and Family Educator and the co-founder of 1 Corinthians 13 Parenting, I work with parents and grandparents who desire a biblical foundation for family life. In classes and retreats I candidly share what I've learned over the years as a wife, mom, and teacher. I've traveled around the nation, meeting with parents just like you. Now, I'm adding grandparenting into the mix, highlighting the tremendous influence my grandmother had on my life. Relationships are a gift. The influence a child's is eternal.

Classes and retreats are tailored to meet the needs of each specific group. Single session classes are typically 60-90 minutes in length and incorporate a teaching time, guided questions, and discussion. Retreats can be an entire day. Wondering what topic would best meet the needs of your group? Choose from the list below or contact me to create a distinctive class, or a series of classes, customized for your group.

Teacher Training: Staff In-Services
Preschool & Ministry Staff

ESTABLISHING A FIRM FOUNDATION FOR EFFECTIVE PARENT-TEACHER RELATIONSHIPS
As preschool is typically the first step in the educational process for families, preschool teachers have the awesome responsibility of creating a positive educational foundation. Respectful, collaborative teacher-parent relationships enhance the learning environment, provide security and success for children, and offer an example for future home-school relationships. Today’s parents need to be encouraged to advocate, rather than abdicate their responsibility as their child’s primary teacher. With encouragement and support, as well as community building and teamwork, the working relationship between the school and the home will allow for greater success of the whole child.

NURTURING THE HEART & MIND: CHARACTER BUILDING FOR PRESCHOOLERS
Build a collaborative, cohesive, and kind classroom by integrating character building lessons focused on faith. This session will highlight how to assist children in developing appropriate and socially acceptable behaviors, applying friendship building skills, and encouraging empathy in the classroom. A variety of influences, including Covid, have left young children lacking interpersonal relationship skills including communication skills and problem-solving strategies. Extension activities for families enhances the learning and increases the likelihood of the character-building skills to be internalized. The child will be more successful when the school and home collaborate.

PROFESSIONALISM AND ETHICS FOR THE PRESCHOOL TEACHER
Preschool teachers are typically the first educational experts parents encounter. We set the stage for how families interact with teachers and administrators in future academic settings. Professionalism, confidentiality, and respect will be highlighted. Social media and school policies will be addressed. Strategies on how to build trusting relationships, enhance a positive climate, and working collaboratively will be shared to equip school staff.

ENCOURAGING PARENTS TO BE SPIRITUAL LEADERS IN THE HOME
Children's ministry leaders will be given tools and tactics to encourage and equip parents to be spiritual leaders in their homes. Prayer models, resources, and family ministry ideas will assist ministry staff to inspire parents to lead kids of all ages to Jesus.

SEPARATION ANXIETY IN CHILDREN AND PARENTS
This in-service is designed to help staff come alongside the child and parent to separate with ease. Parents are not usually the cause of the separation anxiety, but can make things better or worse. Practical tips will be presented to relieve the stress of anxiety due to separating. Tactics and resources for assisting parents in transitioning well will be presented.

CULTIVATING SELF-AWARENESS THROUGH CONNECTING FEELINGS, NEEDS & ACTIONS
Promote social-emotional learning (SEL) in young children through self-awareness and regulation strategies. This inter-active training focuses on the well-being and social growth of children guiding them in relating to others’ perspectives. Skill building tools to connect feelings, needs, and actions will equip children to create healthy connections instilling kindness in the preschool setting.
Beverly Lonsbury, Ph.D. and Becky Danielson, M.Ed. lead this in-service.
