Requests from Grandchildren

This past year, my wife and I  have received a couple of requests from our family for contributions that would be considered greater than an ordinary birthday or Christmas gift. One such request was from one of our grandchildren, our 16-year-old granddaughter, to contribute towards two different mission trips this summer. Both mission trips are with her church. one is a return mission trip to Utah, where she served last summer. The second trip is to a  sister church near Stockholm, Sweden. The students will experience a different culture while spreading the love of Christ. This is very special for her as it’s also a cultural trip as she is of Swedish ancestry.

Our granddaughter is very bright and is passion about the ministry. My wife and I discussed the pros and cons of contributing to her adventures and we both came to the same conclusion. Truly, what better way to spend our resources encouraging our granddaughter to follow her dream of spreading the Glory of God to people of need regardless where they may live.

Through the years, Diane and I have been generous with in our church and community. However, this request was personal. When our granddaughter’s request came, we said “Yes” to this beautiful girl and her two adventures. This is by far the best way that we are not only serving the Lord by helping others, but encouraging our granddaughter as she pursues her desire to serve the Lord too.

Praise the Lord…..God is good!
