Faith-filled Christmas Books for Kids

There are a lot of Christmas books about Santa, elves, and even llamas. Focus on the true story of Christmas. Find faith-filled books for kids to teach them the REAL reason for celebrating. Through the years, Scott and I have given our boys hardcover Christmas books, focusing on Jesus. They each have a mini holiday library to one day share with their own children.

Here’s a list of my favorite Christ-centered books for children for the holidays.

The Stable Where Jesus was Born by Rhonda Gowler Greene
God Gave Us Christmas by Lisa Tawn Bergren
The Legend of the Candy Cane By Lori Walburg
Why Christmas Trees Aren’t Perfect by Richard H. Schneider
The Littlest Angel by Charles Tazewell
The Twelve Days of Christmas by Jan Brett
The Legend of St. Nicholas by Dandi Daley Mackall
The Crippled Lamb by Max Lucado and his daughters
The Gift of the Christmas Cookie:
Sharing the True Meaning of Jesus’ Birth
by D.D. Mackall
The Legend of the Christmas Tree by Pat Matuszak
The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey by Susan Wojciechowski

Write a note in the book, including the date. Add to their libraries! Bring the books out each year as Advent begins. Your children will return to these stories, year after year.  As they grow older, they’ll learn more about the tiny baby, born in a manger as a gift for all humanity.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given,

and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
