Why Kids Need Virtues Training
Kids need virtues training. Why? Because no one wants to spend time with poorly behaved kids or adults for that matter.
• Virtue is moral excellence and exhibition of good behavior.
• Virtue is universal and highly recognized by all cultures of the world.
• Virtues are basic qualities necessary for well being and happiness.
Moral excellence lessons begin at home with virtue training from parents, siblings, and extended family members. The best way to teach virtues is to model virtuous behavior ourselves. Kids will always do what they see us doing which can be quite unnerving at times. Think about how children play. They mimic what they see the adults in their lives doing and saying.
Let’s look at honesty. In training children to be honest, a parent needs to value honesty and exhibit honest and trustworthy behaviors. Expect honesty from your children. Praise truthfulness. Teach your children the difference between fantasy and reality (fiction and fact).
Make a list of virtues you want to instill in your children. The Bible has a lot to say about virtuous and upstanding behavior. Check the links for ideas for virtues to foster in your kids this year.

Psalm 25:21
For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue,
and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control,
and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness
and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.
