7 Tips for a Neighborhood Friendly Halloween
Do you know the families in your neighborhood? Maybe you’re new to the area. Perhaps your little one is going trick-or-treating for the first time, so the holiday is a bit more exciting.
Be intentional this Halloween in connecting with the neighbors, both the children and the parents who come to the door by using these seven helpful tips.
- Decorate the front door as a welcoming home that’s not too scary for little ones. Keep a light on for safety.
- Ask children their names if you don’t know them.
- Compliment each child’s costume.
- As you’re handing out candy, start a conversation with the kids. Greet the parents if they are accompanying their children.
- Team up with another family to trick-or-treat together.
- Consider making a special treat bag for the children who live nearest to you. When these children arrive, make a fuss about them coming and say you have something extra special for them.
- Take into account children who have food allergies. Have stickers, pencils or other non-food items to place in trick-or-treat bags.
