Lent: Time Well Spent
Take time for the 40 days of Lent this year. From Ash Wednesday, February 25, through Good Friday, April 10, make a point in teaching children why we prepare our hearts and minds for Easter. Daily short lessons during Lent will make an impact on our kids’ faith.
Lenten Ideas for Families
• Read the Gospel of John.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5
• Plant a Resurrection Garden.
This hands-on activity brings the Garden of Gethsemane to life. The directions can be found HERE.
• Bake Resurrection Rolls.
Children can “see” the marshmallow disappear from the sweet roll. Link to the recipe HERE.
• Plan ahead for your Easter holiday weekend.
Include the Last Supper (Thursday), Good Friday, the waiting of Saturday, and the glory of Easter Sunday.
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said,
“Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
John 1:29
