Christmas Gift Giving Tips for Little Kids
Christmas is the most WONDERFUL time of the year! Wrapping gifts with little ones can be fun and challenging. Here are a few easy Christmas gift giving tips to include your littles without driving yourself crazy or ending up with a wrapping mess.
Five Easy Tips for Littles to Help in Gift Giving
- Define the word “surprise” for your kids. Using surprise instead of “secret” denotes a fun outcome. Planning surprise gifts for the ones we love is a special part of the holidays. But keep in mind little ones are typically not good at keeping confidences.
- Allow kiddos to help choose gifts. Being part of the big picture of gift giving is good for kids. It’s not all about the presents they will receive. Choosing a personal gift for a grandparent, teacher, or babysitter trains a child to be appreciative of others.
- Because picking out wrapping paper and bows can be fun, let kids help. There’s a learning curve to matching paper and bows as well as gift sizes to boxes and bags.
- Holding the gift wrap in place, putting a finger on the tie before the bow is made, and sticking gift tags to the presents are all helpful and necessary jobs little kids can do to be part of the process. Stick-on bows are a great option!
- Cutting out, coloring, and writing names on gift tags is another great job for kids of all ages. Use these free downloads! One is simple for your littles to make personal gift tags, click HERE. The other free download, click HERE, includes scripture to keep Jesus front and center in gift giving.
Have fun preparing for Christmas with your little ones!
