Gratitude is an Attitude

Gratitude is an attitude to practice. Developing an attitude of gratitude personally and in kids can be daunting. Considering the past months of togetherness as family and fear of the unknown, being grateful is a tall order. But the benefits are well worth it! Try these seven ideas for an attitude of gratitude in your home.

7 Ideas to Encourage Grateful Hearts

  1. Catch your spouse and kids being thankful. Watch for the small smile, the quiet “Thanks Mom”, the loving hug and make sure your family member knows you’ve noticed.
  2. Model a grateful heart. Kids mimic Mom and Dad.
  3. Make a “We are Grateful for…” poster. Record blessings words and pictures.
  4. Post thankfulness scripture on the ‘fridge, bathroom mirrors or bedroom doors.
  5. Write a note of gratitude to each family member.
  6. Read books dealing with thankfulness to your children.
  7. Journal ways God has been faithful to you and your family in the past.

Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives.
Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives.
Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.
